West Tavaputs: Vital to
Rural Economic Sustainability

The West Tavaputs Full Field Development is a key economic driver in Carbon and Emery Counties – and is vital to Utah’s economic future:

  • Oil and gas accounts for 524 jobs and more than $22 million in wages (direct and non-direct) in the two counties. Both figures will grow with year-round development
  • Oil and gas jobs in the two counties pay an annual average income of $52,000, nearly 50 percent higher than the average non-oil and gas job wage
  • West Tavaputs Full Field Development would provide year-round, high-wage employment – creating thriving, stable communities
  • West Tavaputs Full Field Development will help secure a clean, reliable, domestic source of energy for the 80 percent of Utah families that rely upon natural gas to heat their homes
